I wanted to let you know as the owner of Boudreaux’s Speciality Compounding Pharmacy we have a problem in the Shreveport area. The problem is a serious shortage of pharmacy technicians. It is extremely difficult to find personnel, train them and then trust them with dispensing responsibilities. Ayers screens, trains and places these technicians that are in such high demand in our City. I find this program and our City to be outstanding in aiding busniesses like my own grow and prosper.

I own another pharmacy in Lake Charles where a new program has just begun to train pharmacy technicians but there is still a serious shortage. For the past 8 years we have been traying to relocate, train and employ a technician that is reliable. This process has been extremely difficult. I can tell you to date we do not have the proper number of technicians to help us with our day-to-day operations.

The other issue is the extreme shortage of pharmacists in our State. Technicians are an essential part of the daily operations of a pharmacy allowing the pharmacists to interact with the patient and review physicians orders. If you ask any pharmacists they will tell you that there is a shortage and poses a serious problem to the health and welfare of the people in our State. On behalf of the other pharmacists in our area, anything that the city can do to help us with this shortage would be greatly appreciated.
