Shreveport, LA, June 22, 2018 – Ayers Career College announced that Torris Ferguson has been named the new Campus President of Ayers Career College. Ferguson, a native of North Carolina, will bring an enormous amount of experience and expertise that will benefit the students of Ayers.

“Our number one priority is to provide our students the knowledge and skills required to immediately enter into a career in the fastest growing industries,” said Bruce Busada, chairman, Ayers Career College. “When looking at candidates from across the country, Torris stood out because of his record of successful student outcomes and expertise, especially in the in-demand information technology industry. Prior to joining Ayers, Ferguson served as Assistant Campus Director of the Dallas, Texas campus of computer training and IT certification school MyComputerCareer. He was quickly promoted to Campus Director of MyComputerCareer’s Charlotte, North Carolina Campus. Prior to entering career education, Ferguson worked for the Capital Area Workforce Development Board in Raleigh, where he saw firsthand the type of educational training necessary for successful careers.

Ferguson believes the key to education is good educators focused on engaging their students. “One of my favorite quotes regarding my passion for higher education is an old Chinese Proverb – ‘Tell me, I’ll forget; show me, I’ll remember, involve me, I understand,’” explained Ferguson.

Ferguson received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from North Carolina Wesleyan College, a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Keller Graduate School of Management and is currently a candidate to receive a PhD in Higher Education Leadership. Ferguson is married to Torria Ferguson, who is a K-12 educator, and together they have five children. Their oldest son serves in the United States Air Force and recently graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base.

Remembering to Balance Work, Life & School During the Holiday Season

Balancing work, life, and school during the holidays can be stressful. We know you have so much on your plate with shopping for gifts, preparing meals and getting in time for studying. Here are some tips to help keep your busy life organized and manageable during the holiday season.

Prioritize Your To-Do List. Sit down during the weekend and think about what it is that you need to do during the week. The next step is to list those items by when they need to be completed. This process will help you create a weekly timeline for working through your to-do list.

Shop Online. If you feel that shopping is another task that takes time away from family and studying, think about ways to making this task easier. For example, can you do some of your holiday shopping online? If you plan far enough ahead, shopping online also comes with free shipping and plenty of time for wrapping. Have you considered doing online grocery shopping? Websites like Jet and Boxed can ship items directly to your doorstep for little or no cost.

Prepare Meals Ahead of Time. Do you find it hard to serve meals during the holiday season? Try preparing meals on the weekends so you aren’t spending precious weekday time in the kitchen. Another preparation secret is to prepare meals in bulk and freeze them. This allows you to pull already cooked meals from the freezer as needed. Think about making items that freeze well like double batches of chili or crock pot ready meals.
