Medical Assistant Student Success at Ayers Career College
Ruby Bradford’s detailed success as a Medical Assistant
Since opening our doors in 1953, Ayers Career College has been committed to our student’s success in the Heating/AC/Refrigeration, Pharmacy, and Medical Assistant fields. We are with our students every step of the way, from their first time stepping onto our campus to their entry into their new profession. Just like us, every one of our students has a story, and today we’re introducing Ruby Bradford’s story.
Starting Her Success Story as a Student
Ruby’s journey at Ayers Career College began in February of 2021 when she enrolled as a student in our Medical Assistant training program. Throughout this 36-week program, she learned a variety of medical support skills and techniques, including, but not limited to catheterization, mixing and giving medications, and proper vital recordings. She then took the knowledge that she gained during her classroom instruction and applied it in her lab classes. After successfully completing her labs and classroom work, Ruby started her required six-week externship at the Bossier Family Clinic in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Ruby’s Success Continues as a Medical Assistant
Ruby made a great impression on her co-workers and peers during her externship. Clinical Nurse Manager Debra Jones spoke highly of the Ayers Medical Assistant students she supervised in this externship, especially Ruby. Her hard work ethic and commitment to her position led her to obtain the Medical Assistant National Certification and successfully secure a full-time job with the Bossier Family Clinic upon graduation.
Her Keys to Success
Many factors led to Ruby’s success. One of these included her being the first student to attend an Ayers Career College training program under the Louisiana Extension Program. This program, which started in December of 2019, allows students to pursue education programs who would otherwise not be able to due to the high cost of these programs. Ayers has the privilege of partnering with the Caddo Parish School system to offer students the opportunity to go through one of our training programs, such as the Medical Assistant program, for a lower cost than other local training schools.
Setting Other Students Up for Success
Ruby’s success story has encouraged many new students to explore both the path of Medical Assistant training and the Louisiana Extension Program for their future careers. Not only will our classroom and hands-on training techniques prepare you for your new profession, but our Financial Aid and Job Placement services will set you up for success!
